Today is Tuesday and I am back today with a delicious dish that I tried and tasted in my kitchen following the recipe shared by one of my wonderful blog pal who presents her delicious dishes beautifully. This is a very healthy dish that could be made instantly and is ready in 30 minutes from start to finish.

Without further ado here is the bookmarked dish of the day--------

1)  Instant Quinoa Idli from Taste of Pearl City by Umm Mymoonah .

This was a very simple and easy to make dish and was a instant hit.We all enjoyed eating this delicious Instant Quinoa Idli with chutney.I followed most of her recipe as is except that I made the following changes:

I used red quinoa grains instead of regular quinoa and also used 1 cup sooji instead of 1/2 cup.I also added crushed ginger along with chillies to the batter.I also added 1/4 cup of grated carrot , a pinch of asafoetida,1/2tsp of ajwain(carom) seeds and few toasted cashews to the batter.

Thank you Umm Mymoonah for sharing this delicious and healthy dish with us.Please visit her blog for the recipe tried here today and also for many delicious dishes she has in store for us to try and to experiment. Will be back next week with more tried and tasted recipes.

Fried Baby Potatoes---Mom's Special Dish

I definitely have been missing many blog events and all the blog pals from around the world for the past few months.I am very thankful to all the blog visitors and blog pals for being around and supporting me even during my irregular presence.Thank you friends, there is a lot of catching up to do.

My mother is visiting us and we all have been enjoying and relishing mom's cooking for the past two months.A lot of simple and traditional dishes have become a part of our cuisine.Well, some dishes do include the use of deep frying and others are authentic dishes passed on to us from generations. So enjoying various dishes from mom's magic hand from modern dishes to traditional recipes.

For the past many years I was so busy taking caring of my little ones and forgot how nice it really feels to be taken care of.It definitely feels out-of-the world when your mom is here with you.It feels like being taken care of again and I feel like I have become a little kid around her asking her to prepare my favorite dishes and sometimes even enjoying her feeding me:-) .It's an awesome feeling to have my mom here with us and spend time with  all of us.

The dish I am sharing today is a very favorite dish for all of us.It's simple and easy to make and yummy to taste.Let us see how this simple dish is made------

Main Ingredients :
Baby Potatoes....................1lb
Canola Oil..........................5tbsp
Salt.....................................to taste
Cumin flavored Paprika.......to taste

First clean the potatoes under cold water and boil them.Once the potatoes are boiled , peel the skin off them and keep them aside.Place a pan on the stove on medium-high heat and add oil.Once the oil is hot add the potaoes to the pan and let them fry for few miutes.(In the starting we want the heat to be on high so that the potatoes don't get mushy).

After few minutes slowly the potatoes start to turn golden in color. At this point turn the stove to medium heat so that the inside of the potatoes also gets cooked well and the outside stays crispier without burning.

After few minutes you can see that the potatoes have cooked well and turned crispier. Now you can tranfer the extra oil from the pan(after frying) to a bowl. You can see that there is no oil in the pan below. Now add salt and cumin-flavored paprika to the fried baby potatoes and stir for a minute and switch off the stove.

Crispy and delicious fried baby potatoes are ready to be served with hot rice and ghee.Believe me, if you leave them on the table they will all be gone before you even start your meal.Enjoy!

Participating in "The 30 Best Recipes of 2010 Event" hosted by Chackos Kitchen

This is the first time I am participating in the 30 Best Recipes Event hosted by Chackos Kitchen and am very excited about it.I like all the recipes I posted in my blog because each and every recipe is cooked , tasted and enjoyed by our whole family. If my kids love the recipe, it is posted in my blog otherwise it does not get posted.

The recipes I choose to send to the 30 Best Recipes Event are-------------------

The reason I chose to send both these recipes to this event is that in both these recipes there is uniqueness.

The first recipe is a combination of different peels and stalks which are generally discarded considering as a waste. It is known that lots of nutrients are there in the peels/skin of the veggies and fruits, so why waste them, instead turn into a healthy chutney. The combination sounds odd but you will definitely love the flavor of the chutney.

The second recipe I chose is again a good combination of a veggie peel full of nutrients, a healthy grain and a healthy legume and on top of it ,it is fat-free.What more can we ask for than such a healthy dosa ?We can enjoy this for any meal of the day without any guilt.

Wishing all the participants the very best.

Tasty and Healthy Juices on Thursdays : Juice Recipe # 22

As warm weather receeded and the cold air approached we started enjoying fresh fruit in their natural form than making juices.Few days back I had some fruit waiting to be finished and no one was in the mood to eat them ,so I ended up making juice which was an instant hit.

Juice Recipe # 22 :

We need the following ingredients for making this juice----------------

Red Grapes................1bunch(small)

Preparation :
Rinse the fruits under cold water.Clean the pineapple by trimming the outer layer and cut it into long pieces.Peel the tangerines, clementine and orange and core the apple. Now juice the citrus fruits followed by  an apple followed by grapes followed by another apple followed by pineapple followed by ginger.Stir the collected juice in the bowl with a ladle so that the juices blend in and serve the juice immediately.

This yielded 2 large glasses and 1 small glass of juice. The juice was yellow in color.

1) The juice was very delicious. With the juicer pulp I made halwa (just like the recipe in here) and it tasted very delicious.

2) As always, do check if the ingredients used in the juices are okay for you ,before you make these juices.

3) In a juicer always try to juice the soft fruit followed by hard fruits so that you can get the maxium juice out of the soft fruits.

4) A food that is healthy for one person may or may not be healthy for an other person.Always check with your doctor before you try these raw juices.

Tried and Tasted on Tuesday's (3T's) : Nov 16th 2010

Dear Readers , today I am sharing with you all a simple and delicious dip that is easy to make and hearty to tasty.I tried this dip from a website that has simple and quick recipe ideas for parties. This dip is great with toast, corn chips, veggies and we even loved it just by itself.

Here is the tried and tasted recipe for the day----------------

While I was just browsing around I came across this simple and healthy gaucomole dip  recipe. The word spicy got my attention and I immediately followed the recipe given there.I followed most part of the recipe as is except that I reduced the quantity and made few changes.

We love the food spicy but not too hot that my kids can't enjoy.I used Paprika(less spicy) instead of Cayyene Pepper(very spicy) and I did not use red chillies as I already used jalapenos in there. The jalapenos I used were bottled ones so they were not very spicy either. The flavors of garlic, finely chopped red onion, lemon juice and olive oil with  a pinch of blackpepper made the dip delicious.I made it more flavorful by adding few leaves of cilantro.

Please visit the website Great Party Recipes for the recipe I posted here today.Another great way to add Avocado to your diet.Try it and you will definitely love it.Will be back with more tried and tasted recipes next Tuesday.

Tried and Tasted on Tuesday's (3T's) : Nov 9th 2010

Dear Readers , today I am sharing with you all a simple, delicious and healthy soup recipe that I tried from Martha Stewart's Everyday Food.I wanted to make something nice and warm for the cold and rainy evening and ended up making this soup.

Here is the tried and tasted recipe for the day----------------

1) Curried - Zucchini Soup from Martha Stewart's Everyday Food.

While I was googling for a simple and healthy recipe for zucchini soup, I came across this delicious recipe. As we are not much of sweet lovers, the addition of curry-powder to the soup got my attention ,and immediately tried this recipe. It was not mentioned as to what kind of curry-powder to be used in the recipe,so I used the homemade curry-powder that I had handy.

I followed the entire recipe as is.This soup was very tasty and just right for the cold and rainy evening. In the recipe, it was mentioned to serve the soup with toasted almonds.I did not garnish the soup with almonds as there were allergy concerns. If you like to, you can definitely add toasted almonds.

Please go to http://www.marthastewart.com/ for the recipe I posted here today.Try it and you will love it.Will be back with more tried and tasted recipes next Tuesday.

Tried and Tasted on Tuesday's (3T's) : Oct 19th 2010

Today is Tuesday and it is time to post a delicious and yummy recipe that I had tried from a fellow blogger or a friend or from someone in the virtual world. In my family we all love to eat chutney as a side dish for rice and dal or rotis or any breakfast/appetiser dish or even as a spread for sandwich.

One such chutney we enjoy is the combination of mango and coconut.I make this chutney very often at home. This time when I made it, I wanted to try making it in a different way than the regular chutney I make.Googling for a simple and deicious chutney with the combination of Mango and Coconut I came across this unique recipe that I had never tried before. Many might make this chutney but to me this was completely a new one.

Here is the person and the website from which I tried this recipe---------------

I followed her recipe as is without making any changes to it.The mango I used was nice and sour so I did not add any tamarind to it.Generally,I add cilantro leaves instead of curry leaves while grinding the chutney and use curry leaves along with the seasoning ingredients.I never used shallots and ginger while making the chutney before. The addition of ginger and shallots had given a very wonderful and unique flavor to the dish.We all loved this chutney and will definitely make it again.Thank you Nags for sharing this yummilicious recipe with us.
Dear friends, visit Nags website for the recipe of the dish I tried today and many more delicious recipes she has shared with us.Will be back with more tried and tasted recipes next Tuesday.Keep visiting Sumadhura for delicious and healthy recipes.I am not posting very regularly now but hope to post regularly soon.
